Z.L.R. Stavis hails from the hills of Berkeley where she was the editor of her award-winning high school newspaper, The Berkeley High Jacket.

She went on to study writing, the classics, and history at Barnard College in New York City, where she wrote for the Columbia Daily Spectator.

She graduated in 2007 with distinction for her groundbreaking thesis on the Roman Republic.

She still lives in New York and blogs about statecraft and policy.

She is also President and co-founder of a digital communications agency, thinkingSage.
